Good Old Match.com
The above screenshot was sent to a friend, who sent it to me. Nothing like seeing a picture of Asshole in your email to remind you to get off the apps. This was taken back in February, when he was clearly active on the dating apps again, so I can only assume that his last relationship failed. Or did it...
I dated Asshole from late March 2019 to very early July 2019. Sometime in May or June I received a pissed off text or call, I forget which, from Asshole. He was absolutely livid. In his emails that day, from the daily Match.com email that they send to people who are active on there, was a picture of my dating profile suggesting that he might be interested in me.
As you can imagine, this caused a problem. We met on OKCupid. I set up profiles on both, and then realized it was the same guys on both apps, and decided to proceed with only OKCupid. Apparently I didn't delete Match. I had unsubscribed to their emails, etc long ago and forgotten about it.
Asshole let me know that things were over between us, because I hadn't deleted all dating profiles as I had said I had back in April or so. I was about to walk into my church for Saturday evening mass when this was all happening. My head was spinning.
During mass I prayed, and reflected, and then a lightning bolt hit me. WHAT THE FUCK I nearly blurted out. The only way for him to know that I was in the email, was because he was still on Match, AND reading the emails.
After mass, I reset my password so that I could figure out how to once and for all delete Match, and then I sent Asshole a screenshot of the confirmations, etc. Then I called him saying what the fuck, why are you on the apps. He claimed that he forgot to delete them, and opened this email randomly, so that the could use the link to cancel his account. Yes, dear reader, I was that stupid as to believe him. Kind of.
I did question him extensively though about why the four profiles that were highlighted in the email were two male and two female profiles. Again, he claimed that the people must have accidentally set up their profiles as female by mistake.
After that, I watched him more closely. I wanted to believe that he was telling me the truth, but the lies were starting to overlap, and untangle.
